We are pleased to share the shovel is in the ground and construction has commenced on Phillips House – the future home of North York General Hospital’s (NYGH) children and youth outpatient mental health programs.
Through its unique setting and inspirational approach, Phillips House will transform the way in which NYGH delivers outpatient mental health care to children and youth. The impact of Phillips House will extend far beyond the patients we serve – it will become a refuge for thousands of families in our community who are overwhelmed by the devastating symptoms and rippling effects mental illness can have, and do not know where to turn for help.
Our community’s response to the Phillips House project has been unlike any other project we’ve ever embarked on. It has grown organically: groups of teenagers fundraising through pop-up shops and dance recitals, a team of runners at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, personal gifts in support of a cause close to our donors’ hearts, and corporate investments in the health of the next generation. Donors of all backgrounds, and all levels of investment, joined together in support of Phillips House to raise over $7M.
We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this 100% donor-funded project. What a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when a community comes together!
