On the afternoon of December 12th, the patients, families and staff of North York General Hospital gathered in the Torokvei Atrium for the Strauss Music Series Holiday Concert. Composer, singer and pianist Harry Lewis helped usher in the season with a merry mix of classic and contemporary holiday hits where he was accompanied by impromptu guest vocal performances from Gordon Annear and Valerie Morrison to heighten the holiday spirit!
Guests were treated to complimentary cookies and hot chocolate provided by the Morrison Group, and received a North York General branded tuque at the end of the performance. Care providers were encouraged to bring their patients down to join in the festivities, along with staff and visitors to the hospital.
The Strauss Music Series is made possible by the generosity of Dr. Martin and Ann Strauss, who donated the Samick baby grand piano to the hospital in August of 2013. Since then, the foundation has hosted three concerts showcasing the talented musicians of our community for the enjoyment of our patients, families and staff.
As a practicing cardiologist at North York General for nearly 30 years, we are grateful to Dr. Martin Strauss and his wife Ann for their continued support of our patients, their families and our community. We look forward to sharing more musical cheer at the next Strauss Music Series, to be held in spring of 2015!
