We have compiled a list of some frequently asked questions about the Say Thanks program. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact the Foundation at 416-756-6944 or by email at email@example.com.
Whom can I thank through this program?
You can honour any staff member who has made a difference — from a doctor or nurse, to a porter or volunteer. We want to spotlight any member of our healthcare team who went above and beyond to make your experience or your family member’s experience at NYGH a positive one.
What if I’m grateful to more than one person (for example, a team or unit)?
We’ll make sure that everyone on the team or unit is informed of your donation. The department will receive a certificate to display and all staff will receive a pin.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
There is no minimum donation required to honour a staff member or an entire unit. Tax receipts are issued for gifts of $20 or more.
Where will my donation go?
Your donation will support NYGH Foundation’s Vision Fund, which will help the Hospital to cover essential needs such as equipment and new technologies, address new clinical priorities, develop new educational opportunities, and upgrade medical facilities. Alternatively, you may choose to direct your gift to the department where the staff member works.
Will the staff member know the amount of my donation?
As donation amounts are private and confidential, we do not share this information. However, if you would like the recipient to know how much you donated, you may include the amount in your thank you card message.
How will my honoured staff member receive the card and pin?
Please provide us with his or her name and the area of the hospital in which he or she works. We will then arrange the delivery of the card and pin. Please contact us if you wish to personally present the card and pin to the staff member.
If I respond to your invitation to “share your story,” what will you do with what I write?
We may contact you to see if we can use a portion or all of your words for one of our communications. We will not reprint your story without your permission.
