The Doctor She Never Forgot

For Lauren, returning to North York General to give birth again was not a simple decision. Four and a half years earlier, the birth of her first daughter at NYG, Harper, had been joyful — but what followed was frightening. Just days after Harper was born in August 2021, Lauren noticed something wasn’t right.

Dr. Satkunaratnam and I discussed my options, and I made the difficult decision to proceed with a hysterectomy. As a woman, it was not an easy choice, but it was the right one for me because it offered hope of finally being free from years of suffering.
