North York General Foundation (NYGF) is currently recruiting enthusiastic volunteers for our 2025 Rally in the Ravine. With your participation, you’ll be helping to support mental health and orthopaedics for North York and beyond.
As a volunteer, you will play an important role in making this community event a success, while simultaneously spending time outdoors in one of Toronto’s beautiful parks and meeting like-minded individuals.
Whether you are a high-school student looking to gain volunteer experience, or a community member looking to get involved, the Rally in the Ravine has something for everyone!

Available Roles & Descriptions
Parking & Traffic
Responsible for managing vehicle and pedestrian traffic into and out of the event space. Directs people to appropriate parking areas and allows only Event vehicles into restricted event areas. Low impact.
Course Marshall
This team is responsible for safety & organization along the route. This team will also tear down route signage after the event. 4-6 additional volunteers will be stationed along the route to help with route marking, directional assistance, and alerting staff of any medical incidents along the route. Requires standing outside throughout the day.
Check In
Work with event staff to check in registered participants. Ideal for those who are organized and like working with people. Crowd control to ensure people are in the right line and communicating with participants. Low impact sitting with some standing.
Medals
Distribute medals to participants at the finish line. Mixture of Emcee & NYGF foundation, clear course so that it is safe for other participants. Will be standing for longer periods. Low impact, requires standing.
Bag Check / Volunteer Check in
Operates a bag check area, accepting participants coats/bags and providing a ticket for collection. Also responsible for retrieving items with matching tickets at the end of the race.
This area is adjacent to the Volunteer Check In tent. This team will also keep track of the volunteer assignment list to direct newly arriving volunteers to the correct area, alerting a staff member when help is needed. This role must be stationary. Checked items cannot be left unattended. Low impact requires some standing.
Medical
Responsible for providing first aid to those in need.
- 2 volunteers at medical tent on main site
- 2 volunteers stationed at Pit Stops
- 4 volunteers roving the course
Register for 2026 tent / NYGF tent
This team must be knowledgeable about the event and can speak to how funds raised from the event will be used by NYGF. This team is also responsible for creating a friendly, inviting vibe on the main site (lots of cheering, engaging with participants, spectators, & volunteers) and encouraging people to register for 2026, then completing those registrations. Low impact requires some standing and use of ipads.
Setup & Teardown
This team must be ready to do a bit of heavy lifting as they assist in the site set up. They’ll be asked to help the logistics team with items such as setting up tables, helping mark the course, put up signage, prepare the tents with all items required, unpacking and packing assets etc. They’ll be needed prior to the event, during the event and post event. High impact and physically demanding.
Kids Zone
These individuals must like working with kids and understand how to engage with them on their level. Enthusiastic and full of life, these individuals will help oversee the zone, ensuring that the kids are listening to the rules, having fun and participating in our on-site activities and games. These volunteers will be responsible in helping set up the zone and overseeing its operation throughout the day. Medium impact will require movement throughout the day.
Hydration Stations
These individuals will staff the stations along the course, ensuring that all patrons remain hydrated, that there is sufficient water and ice at each station. They’ll be responsible to replenish throughout the event. Medium impact some standing will be required, ability to refill water (lifting jugs).
Green Team
These individuals will assist in ensuring the site maintains cleanliness throughout the day. Collecting any garbage on-site and replenishing rubbish bins as necessary. Low impact ability to lift and empty recycling and garbage bins and keep the site clean.
