Redeveloped in 2019, the Baruch/Weisz Cancer Centre at NYGH provides support for patients and families throughout their cancer treatment journey. The centre houses a full suite of cancer care clinics, including the Anne Tanenbaum Chemotherapy Clinic, hematology, oncology, a dedicated pharmacy, a pain clinic and mental health support. Patients in our community dealing with the uncertainty of a life-altering cancer diagnosis can get the care they need all in one area, eliminating the need to travel to other sites.
The dedicated, interdisciplinary team of cancer care experts at the centre is made up of medical oncologists, hematologists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers and registered dietitians. These health care professionals make sure that patients and their families have the best quality of life possible while being given the most up-to-date, evidenced-based cancer treatment.
Prior to starting their first chemotherapy treatment, our patients attend an informative half-day session where they meet many of the health care professionals who will be part of their care. Patients have let us know how helpful it is to find out what to expect and which services they have access to.
