North York General. Here for Life.
Here for the side no one else sees.
A $500M campaign in support of North York General
You put on a brave face. For your kids. For your coworkers. For everyone who asks “how are you?” and only has time for “fine.”
But there’s a side of you no one else sees. The fear at 2 a.m. The question you’re too scared to ask out loud. The version of you that isn’t fine; the one that’s scared, exhausted, confused – and just needs someone to notice.
At North York General, we see that side of you. You don’t have to pretend. Because here, it’s not just about the treatment. It’s about how you’re treated. That’s the care we’ve quietly given for over 50 years.

The campaign supports a renewed Birthing Centre; a new Patient Care Tower with a new Emergency Department, eight new operating suites, expanded critical care, and inpatient mental health units for children, youth and adults; and a new 528-bed long-term care development for seniors. It also supports the tools, equipment, research, and innovation to continue to be here for our community.
What will the expanded North York General include?
The expansion will create more room for care on North York General’s campus in Toronto. The new Patient Care Tower will include eleven floors of patient care space and up to 317 private patient rooms, a new Emergency Department, eight new operating suites, a Birthing Centre with a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, an expanded Critical Care Unit, expanded medical imaging, and inpatient mental health units for children, youth and adults. North York General’s new 528-bed long-term care development will give seniors a place to call home, with a private room and private washroom for every resident. Located across the street from the hospital in Toronto, it will be Canada’s largest single-site long-term care homes and include a hub of health and wellness services for seniors. The development is being built in collaboration with the provincial government and is part of Here for Life.
Where will the new facilities be built?
Both new facilities will be part of North York General’s campus in Toronto. The Patient Care Tower will connect to the existing hospital at 4001 Leslie Street, and the long-term care development will be across the street.
