“Grateful to be an NYGH Staff Member”

Committed to NYGH

I’ve been a member of the NYGH staff for 34 years. I work in the Materials Management Department, otherwise known as “Stores”. There, I oversee the stock of medical supplies and I’m responsible for replenishing them as well, when needed.

Early on, I was interested in working in health care and have been lucky to have found a second home here at NYGH. I’ve learned and grown personally and professionally and have made many important friendships.

What I appreciate about my role at NYGH is that I’m a member of a team which enables frontline health care workers to have exactly what they need when they need it to treat patients with professionalism and kindness.

The pandemic has been a lesson in being prepared

Just as SARS changed everything, so has the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, our team has been asked to rise to the challenges that the  virus has created. We’ve learned the importance of being innovative and adapting to be better equipped with our available resources.

Taking part in the staff lottery gives me a chance to join my coworkers in supporting the hospital, which is a good cause. That’s why I buy the tickets regularly.

Passionate about travel and motorcycles

In my spare time, I love to combine my love of travel with my love of motorcycles. I hope to explore the Maritimes soon from behind my motorcycle.
