February is Heart Month: Celebrating a Year of Exceptional Cardiac Care

Celebrating a year of exceptional cardiac care

February is Heart Month, a time to join together to raise awareness of heart health in our community and beyond. This month is especially meaningful as we mark the one-year anniversary of the Graham & Audrey Rosenberg Family Cardiac Care Clinic at NYGH.

Over the last year, the support of our cardiac care donors has helped us improve the care experience for more than 4,000 patient visits. Because of them, the clinic has additional space, making it more accessible for patients with mobility issues. The larger space also means we can accommodate a greater number of family members during visits, supporting our family-centred approach to care. Family members like Arlene are grateful for the care their loved ones receive and the donors that play a key role in that care.

“The care my mother receives has been exceptional. It takes a weight off my shoulders knowing she’s being routinely monitored by an amazing and caring group of professionals. As a family member, it’s important that I ask a lot of questions during my mother’s appointments. At the Graham & Audrey Rosenberg Family Cardiac Care Clinic, I always feel like I am heard.” — Arlene, grateful daughter

With four separate patient rooms replacing the older design with curtains, there’s added privacy for clinicians and patients. Thanks to the advanced equipment purchased with our cardiac care donors’ gifts, including stretchers with built-in scales, an ECG machine and new computers, our clinicians can more precisely monitor patients’ conditions.

The Graham & Audrey Rosenberg Family Cardiac Care Clinic is so much more than an upgraded clinic. It’s a lifeline for thousands of people in our community affected by heart disease, and it’s the generosity of our cardiac care donors that has given physicians and nurses the tools they need to improve care and save lives.
