Community bands together to help North York General tackle COVID-19
On May, 5, 2020, North York General Hospital (NYGH) was honoured to receive an incredible $50,000 gift from the Hu family to help the hospital with its COVID-19 efforts. This generous donation completed the $100,000 Cheng family match, which launched the Stronger Together Campaign. This combined community effort has resulted in $200,000 to support frontline staff and provide additional means to care for our seniors during this unprecedented global crisis.
Mrs. Hu, her daughter, Qi, and Mr. Wallace Cheng met with hospital and foundation CEOs, Dr. Joshua Tepper and Terry Pursell, on hospital grounds to present the donations.
The success of the Stronger Together Campaign is due to the commitment of an entire community. The Cheng and Hu families, along with many others, are examples of strength and compassion, made even more special as we celebrate Asian Heritage Week. These funds will make a world of difference to those on the front lines facing COVID-19 and seniors in our care.
