COVID-19 Updates: Message from the President – May 28, 2020

Dear Friends,

My team and I remain working remotely and like many of you, it is still unclear when we will be able to return to our office on a regular basis. In our house, we have fallen into a decent routine of who sits where, hand signals to ask if the “mute” is on or is it time for lunch? I have managed fewer cat interruptions but still experience the occasional wandering spouse behind me during a video call.

One of the many privileges of working in the health care sector is exposure to experts across a number of industries, not just health care. The hospital and foundation boards are full of volunteers who are leaders in their own right in their own industries. What better way to keep our community informed on topical issues than to share this knowledge directly with you?

I’d like to announce the June 2nd launch of House Calls – a virtual conversation with our community. Even for a latent Luddite like me, it is easy to join this forum, and all the instructions are available when you click “Learn more and register”. Please join us and let me know of any topic requests for future forums.

Last week, we reached over 10,000 COVID-19 tests completed and yesterday, we tested over 300 people, so we are ready for you if you need us. If you or a member of your family would like to be tested for COVID-19, even if you don’t have any symptoms, we have two assessment/testing centres for you to access and a dedicated portal where you can receive your results.

Branson Assessment Centre
555 Finch Ave. (North Entrance immediately after Finch)
Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (last registration at 7:45 p.m.)

North York General Hospital
4001 Leslie St. (Enter through Emergency Department)
Hours: 24 hours

Hope you can join us for House Calls on June 2nd and until then #StaySafe.
