You’ve probably seen it on the news – premature births in Toronto are on the rise, and some hospitals are struggling to care for all of the precious new babies.

Talia knows the fear and challenges that come along with having a premature baby. Two years ago, she and her husband suddenly found themselves to be the new parents of two twin girls – Gabriella and Ava (pictured above) – weighing not much more than 3lbs each.

Hospitals don’t receive funding for new and replacement equipment. That’s why it’s up to our community to make sure NYGH has the best equipment to care for Toronto’s tiniest and most vulnerable babies.

This holiday season we’re asking you to support NYGH’s Tippet Foundation Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with a gift that will help bring two urgently needed incubators to our community. With next generation technology that promotes healthy development, these special incubators help protect babies with complex and changing needs. Designed with a removable side-panel, they give parents easy access for skin-to-skin touch – proven to help babies grow and thrive.

This year your gift will have double the impact. NYGH physician Dr. Kuldip Minhas, along with his family, has generously offered to match your donation to the two new incubators dollar for dollar*. Clinicians at NYGH always go above and beyond, but this act of generosity is truly inspiring.

This means that every dollar you contribute until December 31st will be doubled in value. With close to 6,000 babies born at NYGH each year, and the number of premature births on the rise across the GTA, we need your help to ensure our NICU has the best equipment to help give every premature baby the very best start in life.
