Family Medicine Team Captain leading charge for annual Rally in the Ravine

“We are compassionate, inclusive and as a hospital community, we are constantly encouraging employee training, education and innovation.”

Dr. Sara Pardisina is a physician in North York General Hospital’s (NYGH) Family Medicine department, and a leader in our health care community.

As the team co-captain for “FamJam” (alongside Dr. Amy Chan), last year’s Rally in the Ravine top fundraising team, Dr. Pardisina will return to the route trails in support of a community and health care family she loves so much.

As North York General Foundation (NYGF) gears up for its annual Rally in the Ravine event on October 14, proudly presented by Concord, Dr. Pardisina is sharing why she is returning for another year.

Why do you support Rally in the Ravine?

Rally in the Ravine brings our community together to support an incredible population across North York and beyond. As a physician in family medicine, I get to meet and connect with incredible individuals who represent the very best of our diverse community.

I am proud to lead the “FamJam” team again this year. We are all so passionate about this hospital, and the program and services we provide for thousands of people.

What do you love most about this community?

There is so much to love about NYGH and its community. We are compassionate, inclusive and as a hospital community, we are constantly encouraging employee training, education and innovation.

Through our generous donor community, we are continuing to provide exceptional care through programs, services but also through equipment and innovation.

Why is it important to support our hospital’s priority needs?

It’s important to note that although the government funds many aspects of our patients’ health care experience, it is community donations that support equipment replacements, technology advancements and other upgrades throughout our hospital. Through events like Rally in the Ravine, we can ensure we can allocate funds to the areas with the greatest needs.

What do you love about NYGH?

North York General is such a unique hospital; we are like a family. I think that we offer a special environment for patients to get treated, feel safe and heard during their health care journey and above all else, we are in tune with our community – bedside manner and compassion are at the forefront of our care.

Anything else you would like to add?

I am so honoured to represent the Family Medicine team; our entire department is a prime example of the dedication and passion of the NYGH staff culture.

We will never miss an opportunity to step up for NYGH and its vibrant, shining community.

Rally in the Ravine is taking place October 14 at G. Ross Lord Park. To learn more and to register visit rallyintheravine.ca.
