Message from the President – October 24, 2017

Welcome to our new website! We hope you find it easier to navigate for information and making various types of donations. It is hard to believe that door to door fundraising helped establish North York General in 1963, five years before the hospital opened in 1968. While the ways of donating to your hospital has changed over the last 50 years, the purpose of community funds has always been about improving the care for families of North York. The next half century will be about meeting the needs of a growing North York and many other patients in the GTA who choose our hospital.

Our recent news of exceeding our $150M Campaign for North York General was an incredible milestone for this community. Over 370,500 gifts of all sizes from North York and beyond made $157M possible. Hospital President and CEO, Dr. Joshua Tepper, and I are very grateful for this philanthropy, which improves the care experience and saves lives. 

With increased capital and equipment needs to serve our rapidly growing and aging population, we can and must continue to raise funds to keep exceptional care in your own backyard. That’s why we are setting a new goal of $180M — just $23M to go!

To help us reach that goal, I am pleased to announce that Ron Baruch, immediate past Chair of the Foundation Board, will serve as the Campaign Chair. Ron has served on the Foundation Board for eight years and the Baruch name is synonymous with improving patient care. 

The impact of your giving is undeniable, touching every area of our hospital, and we look forward to the future with you.
