Meet
Kamal Sandhu

Instrument Aide

A career change

Kamal Sandhu was working as a welder when he decided to make a career change and found his way to North York General Hospital (NYGH). His friendly co-workers and the fact that the hospital is conveniently located close to the highway has led Kamal to spend 21 years as a proud NYGH employee.

Today, he is part of the team that reprocesses instruments for the surgical program. In his over two decades at the hospital, Kamal has met many different staff from different parts of the world and has loved learning more about their cultures. He also loves seeing advancements in medical instrumentation.

Family connection

For Kamal, NYGH is like family and he has experienced many happy moments at the hospital, namely the birth of his grandchildren. Over the years, many other family and friends have frequented the hospital for a variety of needs.

The winning ticket

Kamal is a recent winner of the Staff Lottery.  For him, the lottery is a great way to raise funds for the hospital and a fun part of participating is seeing who the lucky winner is every two weeks.  Finally, it’s Kamal’s turn to take home the jackpot and he plans on putting away most of his winnings into his travel account for a future trip… and treating his family to a wonderful dinner.
