Supporting compassionate care
As a unit secretary in North York General Hospital’s (NYGH) Family Medicine Unit, Angelata Perinpanayagam knows the value and impact of compassionate care.
While coordinating communications between doctors, residents, patients and other clinics – from outpatient care and geriatrics to newborn and prenatal care – she is often the face and voice of the organization for individuals community-wide.
Angelata started her career at NYGH eight years ago, and since day one, she has been passionate about creating a welcoming environment for all those she encounters, and believes that compassion, kindness and empathy can change the landscape of patient care and healing.
Research and education
Angelata recognizes the importance of research and innovation. By supporting NYGH and its deep roots in education (NYGH is Canada’s leading community academic hospital and is affiliated with the University of Toronto), she hopes to help fund medical research to provide resources to help patients receive the best possible care.
Supporting future generations
Angelata is a recent winner of the staff lottery and takes part to support NYGH’s priority needs, recognizing that hospitals depend on community support. Through staff generosity like hers, the hospital can invest in new and replacement equipment, as well as advanced technology and research to continue providing world-class care to the community now and into the future.
