Samantha Xavier
Registered Nurse
Making a difference
As a passionate and dedicated parent herself, Samantha Xavier is supporting some of North York General’s youngest and most vulnerable patients.
Since 2009, Samantha has worked as a Unit Coordinator at NYGH’s Maternal, Newborn and Paediatric Care program, helping to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to pregnant people and their newest family members.
Safe care for growing families
In her role as a unit coordinator, Samantha manages day-to-day duties, organizes staffing, oversees both the Labour and Delivery and Postpartum units, as well as addressing acute and chronic issues that arise. Throughout her career at NYGH, Samantha has been committed to specialized care that is required for expecting mothers and their children – and she is proud to work at the largest and most comprehensive maternal and newborn program at a community academic hospital in the province.
Research never stops
Samantha recognizes that research and education never stop. She embraces NYGH for its long track record of innovation in patient safety and process improvements, which is especially critical when caring and treating parents and their newborns. By thinking outside the box, she knows we are constantly growing and improving care for our patients and their loved ones.
Paying it forward
Samantha is a recent winner of the staff lottery and takes part in it to give back to an organization that has given so much to her. She believes we can pay it forward – and help the hospital continue and thrive in its mission to provide exceptional health care to our diverse communities.
