Meet Our Winners’ Circle

Everyday, in so many ways, our health care teams go above and beyond for our patients and their families. We are so lucky to have these compassionate and caring people on our team, giving so much to our patients. For some, THEY are the lucky ones as winners of our bi-weekly Fortune Fridays staff lottery!

Meet some of our recent winners who share why winning is so much more than the jackpot:

Lily Ann Andiso, RN, 5 West, General Medicine

“Joining a well distinguished institution gives me pride. I am happy to be working at NYGH, especially because of our commitment to excellent patient and family centred care. Different patients with a variety of conditions come into our care – helping to treat a patient can be challenging, but seeing them get well after joint care from all disciplines is so rewarding. It makes me feel satisfied and fulfilled and joining the staff lottery is one of the ways to support this continuous care. I’m going to use my winnings as part of my savings for a down payment.”

“I joined the staff lottery not only for the chance of winning but also to contribute to the hospital. As a Patient Assistant at NYGH, I truly appreciate being part of the Nursing Resource Team which enables me to work on various floors. It’s a fantastic learning experience – everyone is incredibly supportive and kind. It feels like a family, and I’ve gained knowledge and skills working alongside them. When I’m not working, I enjoy watching real-life documentaries, listening to music, and cooking.”

Leila Dabiri, RN, Surgery

“I was working as a registered nurse in Iran and came to Canada in 2013. I had heard many good things about NYGH, and I decided to join the team here. I never felt that I did not belong and was an immigrant, I felt at home which encouraged me to pursue my education and get my nursing degree here. NYGH has helped me become a better nurse and individual and that’s why I think it’s important that we give back to the hospital. I plan on sending some money to charities in Iran that provide shelter, food and opportunities for a proper education for orphaned children.”
