Terry Pursell, President and CEO, North York General Foundation

Message from the President – January 1, 2020

Last year was one of tremendous renewal and growth. We saw the opening of many new outpatient clinics to better serve the needs of our diverse and growing community, including the Graham & Audrey Rosenberg Family Cardiac Care Clinic, which will enhance the care experience for thousands of patients living with chronic heart conditions, Phillips House and Maddie’s Healing Garden for child and adolescent mental health, and the Specialty Care Clinic that houses our Total Joint Assessment Centre, Hand Therapy Clinic and Minor Procedures Clinic.

We were thrilled to open the Karen, Heather & Lynn Steinberg Breast Centre, which includes the BMO Breast Diagnostic Clinic, and we also redeveloped the new Baruch/Weisz Cancer Centre, which houses the Anne Tanenbaum Chemotherapy Clinic and BMO Oncology Assessment and Support Services. Patients in our community dealing with the uncertainty of a life-altering cancer diagnosis can now get the care they need, close to home and all in one area, eliminating the need to travel to other sites.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, not only were we able to achieve all the above milestones, but we have also now raised over $164M toward our $180M campaign goal, funds that will improve care now and for generations to come.

In 2020, we will be building the new Steinberg Family Paediatric Centre. Once completed, the families of our community will receive exceptional care in a beautiful space designed with children in mind.

We will also be making investments in emergency medicine, mental health, seniors care, and medical imaging — to name a few!

With best wishes for a happy and healthy year,

Terry Pursell
