Mitch Frazer, Chair, Foundation Board of Governors

New Chair, Foundation Board of Governors

As President & CEO of North York General Foundation, it is my pleasure to be able to welcome new volunteer leadership to the organization. On June 11, 2018, the Foundation held our Annual General Meeting and we are so pleased to announce Mitch Frazer as our new Chair of the Board of the Governors.

Mitch has been on the Foundation Board as a Governor for eight years and brings with him a wealth of understanding and commitment to North York General. He has previously held the role of Vice-Chair for five years, and has been an active participant on most committees of the Board. Mitch and his family have also personally supported a variety of campaigns at NYGH, most notably establishing the Fanny Bernstein Living Well With Parkinson’s Program – a program that allows patients and their families to develop a better understanding of their Parkinson’s diagnosis, as well as strategies to cope and thrive with the disease, as well as Gitta’s Race – a community fundraising event in honor of his mother that has raised thousands of dollars for Parkinson’s programming at NYGH.

Mitch is not only a dedicated volunteer for our hospital, but has been a leadership volunteer for a variety of organizations in the city such as Ryerson University , the Toronto French School, and the Ontario Science Centre. As a Partner at Torys LLP he is also Chair of the Pensions and Employment Practice, and is an accomplished author of numerous books and publications on the subject. To read more about Mitch’s career and accomplishments, I encourage you to read his full biography HERE.

I want to also personally thank Ron Baruch, now past-Chair of the Board of Governors for his years of service in the capacity of Chair. Ron has worked tirelessly to support the Foundation in our fundraising efforts while also personally supporting the hospital through philanthropic investment.

We are incredibly lucky at North York General Foundation to be supported by volunteers like Mitch and Ron in our community who share in our vision and commitment to philanthropy and its transformational power at our hospital.

I look forward to working with Mitch in his new capacity as Chair, and what we will accomplish as an organization under his leadership.

With warm wishes,

Terry Pursell
