NYGH Physicians are Giving Back!
Two NYGH physicians – Dr. Kuldip Minhas and the recently retired Dr. Man Fan Ho – are Going Beyond Care to raise funds for life-saving equipment that will benefit our youngest patients. Our community’s response has been inspirational, with over $350,000 raised to date – and counting!
When premature births in Toronto reached peak heights late last year, we reached out to our community to help make sure that NYGH has the best equipment to care for our hospital’s tiniest and most vulnerable babies. Dr. Minhas and his family generously offered to match your donations, helping us raise over $250,000 for two new, state-of-the-art incubators for NYGH’s Tippet Foundation Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We are so grateful for Dr. Minhas’ leadership, and for our donors’ generous response.
After 35 years of serving the North York community, Dr. Man Fan Ho announced his retirement from NYGH last fall. A modest man, Dr. Ho didn’t want a retirement party, or to have any fuss made over him. Instead, he asked for his grateful patients, friends, and colleagues to donate towards a crucial piece of equipment – an ultrasound machine for NYGH’s Early Pregnancy Clinic (EAP). We are proud to announce that close to $200,000 has been raised in Dr. Ho’s honour with a final gift to meet our fundraising goal made from long-time family friend, Mable Cheng. This means that NYGH will receive a new, state-of-the-art ultrasound machine that will help the EPC team diagnose problems early on, monitor high-risk pregnancies, and care for both mother and baby throughout pregnancy. Thanks to our community’s generosity, Dr. Ho’s legacy of incredible care will continue for generations to come.
