Our new MRI, powered by donors!

We’re excited to share that North York General Hospital’s new 1.5T MRI is installed in a new suite and is fully operational! Our donors were central to realizing this tremendous milestone, and we are deeply grateful for their generosity.

The new MRI will enhance patient care

This next generation MRI will provide patients with faster and more accurate care. The new MRI has many special features, most notably it allows for improved image quality which will aid radiologists and improve our ability to detect disease. The advanced machine also reduces the time patients spend in the imaging tunnel and incorporates quieter technology, resulting in a better care experience.

If it wasn’t for the support of our donors, we wouldn’t be able to improve and maintain our services. The next generation of MRI will vault us into the realm of an advanced medical imaging centre.

The progress of our MRI installation

Serving our growing community

As the new MRI will be used by programs across the hospital, it will have a profound impact on a wide range of patients – including those in our cancer care and cardiac programs. In fact, it will serve over half a million people who count on North York General for imaging to help them obtain an accurate diagnosis and the best possible health outcome.

Recognizing the generosity of our lead donors

Our tremendous thanks to Gulshan & Pyarali G. Nanji for their leadership donation towards the new MRI and the associated renovations and technology. In honour of Mr. and Mrs. Nanji’s outstanding contribution, Medical Imaging has been named the Gulshan & Pyarali G. Nanji Family Foundation Centre for Medical Imaging.
