Rommel Camu

RPN

A great culture

As an RPN in North York General Hospital’s (NYGH) geriatric unit, Rommel Camu loves the people he works with. A proud NYGH team member since 2006, Rommel truly believes our hospital has a great culture and has always provided excellent family-centered care. In fact, he feels he wouldn’t be where he is as a nurse if it wasn’t for NYGH.

Teamwork during the pandemic

Rommel always wanted to work in an acute care setting and NYGH was the perfect fit. But this was definitely put to the test during the pandemic.

During the peak of COVID-19, Rommel witnessed his colleagues come together and be resilient in combating this infectious virus.  Their determination and love for the profession of nursing inspired him everyday.

The lucky winner

Rommel is a recent winner of the Staff Lottery and takes part in it because it gives him the chance to win some money and at the same time contribute to North York General Foundation. Outside of work, Rommel practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and loves spending time camping outdoors. He used his winnings to have lots of fun with his wife and children during this past March Break.
