What is that?
No, it’s not modern art. It’s the image produced by an echocardiogram (ECG) machine – and it can tell us a lot about your health!
Every patient who comes through our Emergency Room doors with cardiac issues, from simple palpitations to arrest or arrhythmia, needs an ECG — a diagnostic test that helps visualize the heart. An ECG is most often performed immediately after a patient is triaged and is a critical part of identifying those in need of urgent treatment. Two of our current ECG machines are at the end of their life spans and must be replaced at $46,000 each.
Your gift to NYGH this Heart Month will help thousands of cardiac patients right here in your own backyard.
