In recognition of their remarkable generosity, the hospital is honoured to name the Baruch/Weisz Labour & Delivery Unit, forever linking their family’s legacy with the earliest moments of countless new lives.

“Over thirty years ago both my kids were born here, and the care our family received was nothing short of incredible,” shares Ron Baruch. “While that same spirit of compassion and excellence continues today, it was time for the space itself to evolve and reflect the modern needs of the families it serves.”

Reimagining the Birthing Experience

Now in its fourth and final phase, North York General’s donor-funded Birthing Centre revitalization represents one of the most meaningful chapters in the hospital’s history — built by community generosity and guided by the needs of families and care teams.

The top-to-bottom renewal has refreshed the entire care environment, reimagining patient suites, common spaces, and team stations into modern, welcoming environments that reflect the exceptional care families have come to expect from NYG’s Birthing teams.

The revitalization is part of NYG’s ambitious plans to enable our care teams to deliver World-Class Care 24/7. Other major advancements will include a Long-Term Care Development and a visionary new Patient Care Tower to transform our campus.
