Celebrating Our Stellar Fundraisers

As we gear up for the third annual Stellar Moments of Community Benefit Concert, we celebrate two incredible individuals who went above and beyond to support last year’s event.

Erin Yuet Tjam and Joe Cho were our top Stellar Moments fundraisers, demonstrating the power of community-driven generosity. Their passion for music and philanthropy played a key role in making the event a huge success, and we’re thrilled to share their stories as we look forward to another unforgettable evening on March 22, 2025, at the Lyric Theatre – Meridian Arts Centre.

Erin Yuet Tjam: A Passion for Performance and Giving Back

A health scientist, adjunct professor, businesswoman, and bestselling author of ‘Skin Sobering’, Erin Yuet Tjam is no stranger to making an impact. Based in Waterloo, she’s also a dedicated mother of six adult children who finds joy in skiing, cycling, pickleball, and weight training. Her love for singing brought her to Stellar Moments, but it was the event’s mission that inspired her to take on the role of both performer and fundraiser.

What inspired you to take on the role of both performer and fundraiser for North York General’s Stellar Moments concert?

I love to sing and perform. Stellar Moments gives me the perfect combination of both, while also supporting a great cause.

Why do you believe supporting North York General Hospital, and specifically this year’s focus on the new Birthing Centre, is so important?

Having worked in a hospital setting for over a decade as the Director of Research at St. Mary’s General Hospital, I’ve seen firsthand how important community donations are to growing a hospital’s capabilities. The new Birthing Centre at NYGH is a vital investment in the health of future generations.

What advice would you give to other performers or community members looking to make an impact through fundraising?

Find something you’re passionate about, and use that as your avenue to contribute and connect with the community.

Joe Cho: Art, Music, and Philanthropy

A Markham-based interior designer and painter, Joe Cho’s contributions to Stellar Moments include live-painting, and this year, his artwork will serve as a backdrop for a musical act.

What inspired you to join Stellar Moments?

My wife and I have always supported hospital initiatives, especially since our daughter is an anesthetist. It felt natural to join Stellar Moments as both a performer and fundraiser.

What advice would you give to others looking to make a difference through fundraising?

There’s a famous Chinese saying: ‘Giving is more blessed than receiving.’ I truly believe in this philosophy, and I encourage others to embrace it as well.

Why is combining philanthropy with art and music important to you?

Art and music connect people, and philanthropy makes them even more meaningful. At Stellar Moments of Community, I painted live on stage with singers and a calligrapher, blending art forms into a unique performance. Auctioning the artwork to raise funds made it even more special, and I’m grateful for the experience.

Join us on March 22, 2025, for an evening of music, art, and generosity, all in support of the revitalization of the Birthing Centre at North York General Hospital. Together, we can create stellar moments that will make a difference for generations to come!
