Fortune Fridays Staff Lottery is open to current employees of North York General Hospital (NYGH) with an active employee number, NYGH physicians (on payroll or not), volunteers registered with NYGH Volunteer Services, or employees of Compass, Mohawk Medbuy or Sienna working at any NYGH location.
Proceeds from the Fortune Fridays Staff Lottery also support the hospital’s greatest needs and the compassionate care you provide our patients every day.
Actual prize amount varies with participation.
Maximum 5 tickets/draw
Purchase up to five tickets for each biweekly draw during the entire lottery period of Dec 1, 2023 to Nov 15, 2024. For participants on payroll, $4 per ticket will be deducted from your biweekly pay. For participants not on payroll, tickets for all remaining draws in the entire lottery period must be purchased upfront by cheque or credit card. Biweekly draws will be conducted on Fridays at 2 p.m.
Tickets are not tax receiptable.
How it works
A total of 4,500 tickets will be printed and available per draw. Actual prize amount varies with participation up to a maximum of $9,000 per draw.
You can win half (50 per cent) of the proceeds (the value is dependent on the number of tickets sold). The other half will help purchase new and replacement equipment, technology advancements and many other upgrades at North York General Hospital (NYGH).

WHAT ARE THE METHODS OF PAYMENT?
Payroll Staff: The amount listed on your enrollment form will be deducted from your bi-weekly paycheque until you notify us in writing to cancel.
Non-payroll Staff and Affiliates: Please contact the Foundation at 416-756-6829 and enroll for the entire year with monthly payments via cheque (post dated cheques) or credit card.

HOW ARE WINNERS NOTIFIED?
We will do everything we can to get in touch with you. Winners will be notified via email, hospital extension or any other preferred method of contact included on your enrolment form. We will notify you within 48 hours. Be sure to check your email and voicemail the Friday or Monday after every draw.
WHAT IF THE LOTTERY IS SOLD OUT?
Names will be placed on a waiting list. If a spot becomes available, the ticket will be reassigned to the next person on the list in the order in which their enrolment form was received.
WHAT IF I WANT TO OPT OUT OF THE PROGRAM?
To opt out of the program at any time, contact the Foundation in writing at [email protected]
WHAT IF I LOSE MY TICKET?
Please treat your ticket as you would any lottery ticket. However, if you lose your ticket, bring your hospital badge and one piece of photo ID to the Foundation office. Your name will then be checked against our ticket number list.
WHAT DOES THE LOTTERY SUPPORT AT NORTH YORK GENERAL?
All proceeds from the lottery will support hospital-wide equipment needs.
CAN I CHOOSE WHAT PROGRAM AREA I WANT MY LOTTERY TICKET PURCHASE TO SUPPORT?
No, we must choose specific equipment to comply with licensing standards set forth by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The Fortune Friday Staff Lottery is open to NYGH staff, physicians and volunteers, as well as Compass, Mohawk Medbuy Corporation, and Sienna staff working at any NYGH location
IS ANYONE EXCLUDED FROM PARTICIPATING?
Yes. Some people are excluded from participating:
- Hospital and Foundation Board members,
- Persons involved in the direct management/execution of raffle in the Foundation and Hospital Payroll Dept
WILL I SEE THE DEDUCTIONS ON MY ELECTRONIC PAYROLL SLIPS?
Yes, there will be a line showing your lottery deductions per pay period.
CAN I HAVE A TAX RECEIPT?
Sorry, but lottery ticket purchases are non-receiptable, as per CRA guidelines.
