Halfway to our fundraising goal!

With one of the highest percentages of seniors in Toronto, North York urgently needs expanded access to high-quality long-term care. North York General (NYG) — already a recognized leader in seniors’ care — is building one of Ontario’s most advanced Long-Term Care Developments to meet this growing need.

While government funding will allow us to build the new Long-Term Care Development, it is our incredible donors who are making it possible to fully realize our vision, which is rooted in best practices for safety, privacy, dignity and wellness.

The response from donors has been phenomenal. Our community has come together to support this landmark project directly and through fundraising events. Thanks to our donors’ tremendous generosity, we have now reached 50% of our fundraising goal!

Honouring our transformational donors

“Our support for North York General started when Poling’s mother, who was a senior at the time, was admitted through the Emergency Department. She stayed for a month, and the care she received left a lasting impression on us — it was thoughtful, respectful, and exactly what we would have hoped for in her final chapter. Making that first donation in her memory felt like the right thing to do. Now, years later, as we grow older ourselves, we see just how important that kind of care is — not just for the past, but for our own future too. Supporting seniors’ care at NYG feels deeply personal, and it’s a way to honour where we’ve come from while helping shape what’s ahead.”

“Our connection to NYG is very personal. Four of our seven grandchildren were born at the hospital, and our daughter received exceptional cancer care there. Through these experiences, we came to deeply appreciate the culture of compassion and professionalism that defines NYG. It left a lasting impression on us as a place of healing and heart. As a result, we are grateful for the opportunity to participate in supporting the NYG Long-Term Care Development. Realizing that North York is home to a growing population of seniors inspired us to contribute. We are excited for our gift to create culturally attuned, community-centered care — with floors and services that reflect the diversity and spirit of North York. We hope our support encourages others in the community to step forward and help build something truly meaningful. We feel honored to be part of this transformation.”

“After arriving in Canada in 1988, our family embraced the opportunities this country offers to everyone, regardless of race, religion, or background. We feel deeply grateful and believe in giving back to the community that welcomed us. One cause close to our hearts is caring for the elderly, ensuring they continue to experience fulfillment, comfort, and dignity. The hospital’s Long-Term Care Development will provide these individuals with the highest quality of care in a modern and inclusive setting. By supporting this project, we honour the older generations who helped build our community, and it is our hope that our family’s gift inspires others to contribute as well. Together, we can make a lasting impact—enhancing health, dignity, and the quality of life for older adults.”

“As owners of a real estate development firm, our family is passionate about creating communities that foster connection and quality of life. Giving back is deeply rooted in our values—we come from a culture of builders and mobilizers, and supporting the Long-Term Care Development project is a way to build for future generations, right here at home. With strong ties to the hospital, we immediately connected with the vision for this landmark facility. Thoughtfully designed with private rooms, access to serene outdoor courtyards, and welcoming common areas, it reflects a deep commitment to dignity, safety, and belonging. Supporting this project is our way of helping shape a healthier future for North York’s seniors and the community we cherish.”
